Lumia 525 vs Android(Moto G, Grand 2, Canvas 5, Galaxy Core, Xperia M)

Nokia is certainly hoping to win the hearts of those consumers who adore budget phones once again. Having tasted massive success with its budget ranger Lumia 520, Nokia takes it forward with the introduction of well specced windows device, Lumia 525.

While the Lumia 525 boasts of some impressive specs and is likely to be priced within the same price bracket as its predecessor, it is likely to face stiff competition from its Android rivals:

Samsung's newest phablet and sequel to the best seller - Galaxy Grand is expected to hit the retail stores in India soon. The device comes fitted with a 5.25 HD 720p display and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box. A 1.2GHz quad-core processor supported by 1.5GB of RAM paves way for smooth and lag free performance. Further, there is 8GB of internal storage with support for external memory expansion by 64GB.

Samsung has given connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS and there is an 8-megapixel primary camera with auto focus and LED flash and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling and self portraits. A 2,600 mAh battery giving the phone juice to provide 17 hours of talk time.

As per a tweet made by @MMXNewscaster, “Micromax's Octa Core phone is real. Will hit market in early 2014.” The indigenous handset manufacturer is tipped to be prepping Canvas 5 equipped with a MediaTek octa-core MT6592 processor and the flagship phone is believed to bang the smartphone market in January 2014.

Details about the Micromax Canvas 5 are scant, but the handset is anticipated to sport a Full HD 1080p display and an improved camera than the one in Canvas Turbo, the current flagship phone.

Galaxy Core packs in a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a 800x480 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Other goodies include a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a VGA camera at the front for video calls, 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card and a 1,800mAh battery. 

Connectivity-wise, the Galaxy Core features dual-SIM support, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Samsung's TouchWiz UI layer on top.

Fitted with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 854x480 pixels, the device is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8227 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

Xperia M has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 720p video recording and a VGA front camera. Fueled with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the handset has 4GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded to 32GB. Other goodies on board include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS and NFC and a 1,750 mAh battery.
